91¿´Æ¬ biology students recently showcased their research on a regional stage, representing the college at the 73rd annual meeting of the Southwestern Association of Naturalists, held April 23 91¿´Æ¬ –26 in Tyler, Texas.

Dr. Chris McAllister, along with six 91¿´Æ¬ Independent Research students 91¿´Æ¬ —Cecilia Phan, José Fuentes, Estefani Garcia, Xenia Esparza, Stephanie Hernandez and Michelle Mejia 91¿´Æ¬ —attended the conference, hosted by University of Texas at Tyler at the Holiday Inn Conference Center.

Each student, along with McAllister, presented an oral paper highlighting research conducted over the past several semesters in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas. Their participation reflects the high level of academic engagement and hands-on learning opportunities available to 91¿´Æ¬ students.

Notably, 91¿´Æ¬ was the only Texas community college represented at the meeting, making the group 91¿´Æ¬ ’s presence especially significant.

While in Tyler, students also had the opportunity to visit Caldwell Zoo, adding an educational and memorable experience to their trip.
