Alpha Mu Chi, 91Ƭ's chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, recently received its sixth Honors in Action grant from the Mellon Foundation. The chapter will use the funds to explore and expand upon the various ways in which community colleges preserve stories. Part of that project includes filming and compiling 91Ƭ “40 stories 91Ƭ ” related to the college as it celebrates its fortieth anniversary.
Susan Edwards, Phi Theta Kappa 91Ƭ ’s Senior Director of Honors Programs, commended 91Ƭ 91Ƭ ’s Phi Theta Kappa chapter for submitting 91Ƭ “a robust 91Ƭ ” project and praised it for its efforts in serving the college and the community.
Dr. Melissa Fulgham, lead advisor for 91Ƭ 91Ƭ ’s Phi Theta Kappa chapter, expressed delight at the news. 91Ƭ “These funds will help chapter members gather stories unique to the college and compile them in engaging ways to ultimately share with the college and the community. 91Ƭ ”
Chapter officers LaDarrius Patterson, in conjunction with the Theatre Club, and Andrew Higgins are spearheading the effort. Chapter advisors Dr. Melissa Fulgham, Dr. Maryna Svirska-Otero, and Professor Athena Hayes are helping coordinate the project, which will involve several chapter members.
