Northeast Texas Community College (91Ƭ) is excited to announce its upcoming Travel Course to Washington, D.C., scheduled for May 27 91Ƭ –31, 2026. The trip is open to both 91Ƭ students and community members, offering participants an educational and immersive look at the nation 91Ƭ ’s capital.

Students who wish to earn college credit may enroll in courses such as Government, History, English, Communications, Art Appreciation, and Photography. However, the experience is also open to community members who simply want to enjoy an organized tour of historic sites without enrolling in classes.

Trip highlights will include the U.S. Capitol, Library of Congress, Supreme Court, National Archives, national monuments and memorials, Arlington National Cemetery, Mount Vernon, and even an evening option at Ford 91Ƭ ’s Theatre.

This year marks a transition in leadership for the program. Matt Homer, 91Ƭ Government Instructor, will co-lead the trip alongside Mandy Smith, carrying on a tradition established by longtime coordinator Rex Allen, who led the course for many years.

91Ƭ “I am honored to take part in continuing this experience for our students and community, 91Ƭ ” Homer said. 91Ƭ “This will be my first year co-organizing with Mandy Smith, and we 91Ƭ ’re excited to build on the strong foundation that Rex established. 91Ƭ ”

The cost of the trip is $1,600 per participant (with additional tuition costs for those taking the courses for credit). Limited scholarships may be available, and installment payment options are offered through Continuing Education.

An interest meeting will be held Tuesday, October 7 at 12:30 p.m. in HUM-107.
