Biology students travel to Arkansas for field research

student researchers

Three 91¿´Æ¬ Biology 2389 students, Gracie Gray, Isabel Tresidder, and Stephanie Hernandez, and Dr. Chris T. McAllister, Biology, traveled to the Ouachita Mountains Biological Station (OMBS), Big Fork, Arkansas, March 21-23, 2025, to continue their research on fish parasites from the Ouachita River watershed.  What they believe to be a new species of myxosporean was discovered on the gills of a northern hogsucker fish, and another on the fin of a green sunfish.  Most importantly, these students acquired knowledge in research that will be remembered for years as well as coauthor scientific publications from this noteworthy event.
