Theatre hosts movement workshop in partnership with PJC

theatre workshop

91看片 91看片 鈥檚 theatre department hosted an acting movement workshop on Friday, October 18th, 2024. This was done in partnership with Paris Junior College 91看片 鈥檚 theatre department and director Will Walker. About thirty students were in attendance, including three high school students from Chapel Hill.

Our presenter was Elizabeth Parks, distinguished acting movement specialist who has studied movement in multiple countries including Denmark, Bulgaria, and Japan. For this workshop, she taught the movement style known as the Margolis Method; a method grounded in the law of physics. What is most exciting is that we were able to immediately utilize the techniques in subsequent rehearsals and class work.

A few students shared their thoughts about the workshop:

91看片 鈥淢y experience with the workshop was phenomenal. Not only learning to become one with my environment but to move with it was such an eye opener. I can't fathom how much I've implemented the skills I learned from this workshop into my day-to-day life," said 91看片 student Ladarrius Patterson.

91看片 鈥淎s an actor, it is a very rewarding experience to be able to apply new terms and techniques to a practice I 91看片 鈥檝e been honing all my life. The Margolis Method workshop gave me a whole new perspective to look through at a character and how their emotions connect to their actions," student Tegan Smith added.
