Honors Northeast recognizes Dr. Joy Cooper for 10 years of service

The Honors Committee of Northeast Texas Community College presented a gift to Dr. Joy Cooper, recently, recognizing her 10 years of service on the college?s Honors Committee. 91¿´Æ¬ † 91¿´Æ¬ † During her tenure, 91¿´Æ¬?s honors students have obtained 40 national awards, with an unprecedented 10 national citations gained in the just the last academic year, including two Jack Kent Cookes--one to Student Representative Committee member, Alicia Cantrell--and two Hites Awards.

Honors Director, Dr. Yox noted: 91¿´Æ¬ † ?Our Honors Committee has stood like a bulwark against lethal requests, and for a campus merit dynamic for over a decade. 91¿´Æ¬ † We are thankful for Joy?s role in this, as a faithful and perceptive committee member who helped determine the composition and policies of honors at 91¿´Æ¬.?

While serving on campus committees, and teaching, Dr. Cooper has engaged in cutting-edge research. 91¿´Æ¬ † This last spring, she received her Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Tyler with a dissertation entitled: ?The Influence of Emotional Intelligence and Personality Traits on Effective Leadership.? 91¿´Æ¬ † Cooper is an Associate Professor of Business Management at 91¿´Æ¬.
