Wesley Fellowship to hold groundbreaking Jan. 27

The 91¿´Æ¬ campus is invited to join The Wesley Foundation for the groundbreaking of the new Wesley Fellowship Building on Tuesday, Jan. 27 at 12:30 p.m. 91¿´Æ¬ †(behind the 91¿´Æ¬ tennis courts)

The Wesley Fellowship, 91¿´Æ¬ †created in 2003 has been 91¿´Æ¬ †actively serving Northeast 91¿´Æ¬ †Texas Community College 91¿´Æ¬ †students, faculty, and staff. 91¿´Æ¬ †The group meets for food 91¿´Æ¬ †and fellowship each Tuesday 91¿´Æ¬ †and, until recently, provided 91¿´Æ¬ †a free lunch prepared and 91¿´Æ¬ †served by local United 91¿´Æ¬ †Methodist Churches, 91¿´Æ¬ †along with other churches 91¿´Æ¬ †throughout our community.

Members of the Wesley 91¿´Æ¬ †Board recently met to 91¿´Æ¬ †finalize plans for building 91¿´Æ¬ †a new home for the Wesley 91¿´Æ¬ †Ministry. 91¿´Æ¬ †Currently, the ministry 91¿´Æ¬ †serves an average of 91¿´Æ¬ †60 students each week. 91¿´Æ¬ †Meeting space has always 91¿´Æ¬ †been a challenge for Wesley 91¿´Æ¬ †as 91¿´Æ¬?s student body 91¿´Æ¬ †and student organizations 91¿´Æ¬ †have seen considerable 91¿´Æ¬ †growth over the past few 91¿´Æ¬ †years. 91¿´Æ¬ †Occasionally meetings 91¿´Æ¬ †must be relocated due to 91¿´Æ¬ †competition for meeting 91¿´Æ¬ †space. Aaron Dudley, 91¿´Æ¬ †Wesley Director, has 91¿´Æ¬ †overseen continued growth 91¿´Æ¬ †during his tenure.

In 2006, the Board 91¿´Æ¬ †received an opportunity 91¿´Æ¬ †to purchase land adjacent 91¿´Æ¬ †to the college property 91¿´Æ¬ †and soon after began 91¿´Æ¬ †raising funds necessary to 91¿´Æ¬ †build a permanent home 91¿´Æ¬ †for Wesley. After years 91¿´Æ¬ †of prayers, fund-raisers, 91¿´Æ¬ †and donations, a ground 91¿´Æ¬ †breaking ceremony has 91¿´Æ¬ †now been set for Tuesday, 91¿´Æ¬ †January 27.

Rev. Mike Fraley, Wesley 91¿´Æ¬ †Board President, said, ?Wehave been working toward 91¿´Æ¬ †this ground-breaking for 91¿´Æ¬ †many years and we are 91¿´Æ¬ †grateful to God and all of

our donors that this day 91¿´Æ¬ †is in sight.? Fund-raising 91¿´Æ¬ †activities will continue.

Dan McCain and Mike 91¿´Æ¬ †Clifton have volunteered 91¿´Æ¬ †to direct the Wesley 91¿´Æ¬ †building project. A call 91¿´Æ¬ †for volunteers to perform 91¿´Æ¬ †the work of building 91¿´Æ¬ †the facility is underway. 91¿´Æ¬ †Volunteers with experience 91¿´Æ¬ †in construction, electrical, 91¿´Æ¬ †plumbing, painting, dirt 91¿´Æ¬ †work, HVAC, brick laying, 91¿´Æ¬ †flooring, landscaping, 91¿´Æ¬ †concrete finishing, and/or 91¿´Æ¬ †those willing to clean as the 91¿´Æ¬ †work progresses are needed.

A volunteer labor force 91¿´Æ¬ †will result in considerable 91¿´Æ¬ †savings for the construction 91¿´Æ¬ †budget. Please call Laura 91¿´Æ¬ †at 903-897-5596 or email at 91¿´Æ¬ †daingerfieldfumc@yahoo.com to volunteer.

The Wesley Fellowship 91¿´Æ¬ †Center will become 91¿´Æ¬ †a center for 91¿´Æ¬ 91¿´Æ¬ †students, faculty, staff, the 91¿´Æ¬ †surrounding churches, 91¿´Æ¬ †and the community to use 91¿´Æ¬ †for meetings, worship, 91¿´Æ¬ †counseling, training 91¿´Æ¬ †sessions, and more. Living 91¿´Æ¬ †quarters are in the current 91¿´Æ¬ †plan that will provide an 91¿´Æ¬ †opportunity for a consistent 91¿´Æ¬ †presence and oversight of 91¿´Æ¬ †the facilities.

Wesley students and 91¿´Æ¬ †their Board invite you to 91¿´Æ¬ †prayerfully consider making 91¿´Æ¬ †a donation toward this 91¿´Æ¬ †project and/or volunteering 91¿´Æ¬ †to assist in the construction. 91¿´Æ¬ †Currently, over $150,000 has 91¿´Æ¬ †been raised. 91¿´Æ¬ †Fundraising efforts are 91¿´Æ¬ †continuing to complete the 91¿´Æ¬ †building fund and ongoing 91¿´Æ¬ †operational costs. Please 91¿´Æ¬ †send your tax-deductible 91¿´Æ¬ †gifts to Wesley and mail to 91¿´Æ¬ †FUMC Daingerfield, 203 91¿´Æ¬ †Scurry St., Daingerfield, TX 91¿´Æ¬ †75638
