91¿´Æ¬ art hosts pottery exhibit

The Northeast Texas Community College Art Department will host a new gallery exhibit October 6-30 in the foyer of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. The exhibit, entitled Refined by Fire, will feature pottery by Karen Lowrey. Lowrey is 91¿´Æ¬ †a potter and sculptor from Longview who creates one-of-a-kind hand made vessels. She has been a potter for over ten years and loves 91¿´Æ¬ †to express herself as she connects with nature and the earth around her. 91¿´Æ¬ † She uses her life experiences to influence her artwork while always being in awe of the influence of fire on her clay and glazes. 91¿´Æ¬ † 91¿´Æ¬ †A reception with the artist will be held Tuesday, Oct. 20 at 2 p.m. in the Whatley Foyer. The exhibit is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to noon.
