The eighth annual Northeast Texas Poetry Contest and Reading is again open to the public. 91¿´Æ¬ †Amateur, accomplished or aspiring poets of any age are welcome to submit their best poem on the topic of life in Northeast Texas. 91¿´Æ¬ †Poets are encouraged to accent or enliven the sense of the surroundings, the people, the culture or the history of our region. 91¿´Æ¬ †The deadline date for submission is August 28 at noon. Poems should be submitted to Dr. Andrew Yox, Director of Honors Northeast by e-mail to 91¿´Æ¬ †ayox@ntcc.edu.
Student prizes of $400, $300, $200 and $100 will be awarded and prizes of $200 and $50 will be awarded in the adult category (anyone who is not a full-time student). 91¿´Æ¬ †Winning poets must participate in person in the poetry reading on September 4 at 11 a.m. 91¿´Æ¬ †in the foyer of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of Northeast Texas Community College.
