Paula Wilhite 91¿´Æ¬ †presents Anne Semrau (left) 91¿´Æ¬ †with a gift basket 91¿´Æ¬ †for being named 91¿´Æ¬?s Fittest Employee 91¿´Æ¬ †of the Month 91¿´Æ¬ †for September. To receive this award, an employee must 91¿´Æ¬ †be caught practicing 91¿´Æ¬ †overt wellness behavior and attitude. 91¿´Æ¬ â€

Here's a message from Anne regarding her 91¿´Æ¬ †personal wellness plan?
My story (and every dietitian has one) began almost thirty years ago, 91¿´Æ¬ †when my father died unexpectedly of a heart attack. I still remember, in 91¿´Æ¬ †the difficult days that followed, one of my brothers and I looking into 91¿´Æ¬ †the refrigerator and him saying, "Dad dies of heart disease and we have 91¿´Æ¬ †all-butter croissants."
Comfort food doesn't have to be healthy, but if 91¿´Æ¬ †you want the best chance to live a longer, healthier, better life, the 91¿´Æ¬ †foods that you eat day-to-day and the lifestyle that you choose can make 91¿´Æ¬ †a real difference. Eventually, I became a dietitian and that brother? An 91¿´Æ¬ †ironman (and aerospace engineer). We've both outlived our father. Maybe 91¿´Æ¬ †we're just lucky, because other environmental factors and genetics can 91¿´Æ¬ †dictate so much, but I have seen from my times in the hospital, 91¿´Æ¬ †especially the ICU in the San Antonio VA hospital, how very difficult or 91¿´Æ¬ †impossible it can be to restore health once it's lost. So even though 91¿´Æ¬ †it's not always easy to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables and get 91¿´Æ¬ †regular exercise, I absolutely know that it's worth it. I feel very 91¿´Æ¬ †fortunate to be alive and even more fortunate to still be healthy.
Thanks,
Anne
