The Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at Northeast Texas Community College will host a performance of the national tour of Shakespeare's comedy 91¿´Æ¬ †As You Like It 91¿´Æ¬ †on Friday, April 5 at 7:30 p.m. The show is presented by The Acting Company of New York.
Tickets to the 91¿´Æ¬ performance are $25 for adults and $5 for students. 91¿´Æ¬ †As You Like It 91¿´Æ¬ †is sponsored by J.T. and Kaye Brison.
The tour schedule began at the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis in January and will cover 29 cities in 22 states in the coming months. 91¿´Æ¬ †Dan Rothenberg, Artistic Director of Philadelphia?s Pig Iron Theatre has directed Shakespeare?s lushly lighthearted comedy.
"The 91¿´Æ¬ †Acting Company has a 91¿´Æ¬ †reputation 91¿´Æ¬ †for producing theatre at the highest of levels. We are very pleased to host them during their national tour," Carolyn Franks, Director of the Whatley Center, said.
The superb cast includes actors from the some of the finest acting conservatories in the U.S., cast in New York and through the Guthrie Experience and its training program with the University of Minnesota.
The cast follows in the footsteps of 91¿´Æ¬ †Kevin Kline, Rainn Wilson, Patti LuPone, Jesse L. Martin, Frances Conroy, Hamish Linklater, Harriet Harris, David Ogden Stiers, Jeffrey Wright 91¿´Æ¬ †and 91¿´Æ¬ †Keith David 91¿´Æ¬ †who all began their careers on tour with 91¿´Æ¬ †The Acting Company. 91¿´Æ¬ †91¿´Æ¬ †Founded by 91¿´Æ¬ †John Houseman 91¿´Æ¬ †and 91¿´Æ¬ †Margot Harley 91¿´Æ¬ †in 1972, The Acting Company has brought 138 productions to 49 states and 10 foreign countries earning a 2003 TONY for Excellence in Theater, Obies, Audelcos and Los Angeles Critics Circle Awards.
