91��Ƭ † 91��Ƭ † 91��Ƭ †Did you know that you can become a police officer in just 17.5 weeks? 91��Ƭ †If you are over 21 years of age, have a clear criminal history, posses 91��Ƭ †good physical stamina and can devote all of your time to learning, then 91��Ƭ †the police academy may be the right program for you.

91��Ƭ † 91��Ƭ † 91��Ƭ †The Northeast Police Academy at Northeast Texas Community College will 91��Ƭ †offer a "fast track" academy beginning August 20, 2012. This day 91��Ƭ †academy includes physical fitness training and meets from 6:30 a.m. to 91��Ƭ †5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

91��Ƭ † 91��Ƭ † 91��Ƭ †"Graduates from the academy will be prepared to test for and pass the 91��Ƭ †standard Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and 91��Ƭ †Education (TCLEOSE) state exam. They may also obtain college credit 91��Ƭ †that can be transferred to a university and most cadets may qualify 91��Ƭ †for federal grant funding," 91��Ƭ †Richard Jones, Northeast Police Academy Director, said.

91��Ƭ † 91��Ƭ † 91��Ƭ †The Northeast Police Academy is licensed by the Texas Commission on 91��Ƭ †Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE). Students 91��Ƭ †will receive hands-on training to ensure that graduates possess the 91��Ƭ †required skills, training, experience and self-confidence to succeed 91��Ƭ †in a career in law enforcement.

91��Ƭ † 91��Ƭ † 91��Ƭ †In order to be considered for acceptance into the Northeast Police 91��Ƭ †Academy, students must be a high school or GED graduate, at least 21 91��Ƭ †years of age, have not been convicted of an offense above a Class C 91��Ƭ †misdemeanor and must have no felony convictions. Students who are 91��Ƭ †under 21 may be admitted if they have completed 60 hours of college 91��Ƭ †instruction or an associate's degree. Students must also complete an 91��Ƭ †application, psychological exam, physical exam and a criminal history background check.
